Authorities reports 50,000 strong a rally in Grozny

Over 50,000 went out to a rally on the occasion of the National Unity Day, the Grozny administration reports. However, one of the participants has noted that many people left the rally after getting registered, well before it began.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the today’s mass events dedicated to the National Unity Day were held in Grozny under enhanced security measures. Students and state servants stated that they were forced to take part in the rally.

The above large-scale rally was held in the central square of Grozny. The audience was addressed to by republic’s state officials and public figures. The participants held posters reading "Our strength is in unity!", "Our strength is in Russia’s unity!" They also carried portraits of the Russian president, the head of Chechnya, and the flags of Russia, Chechnya and the “Edinaya Rossia” (United Russia) Party.

Residents of Grozny doubt the figure of 50,000 participants.

Earlier, students said that their presence at political and sports defines the amount of their scholarships.
