Relatives report end of torture of Mozdok resident

Alim Chervaev is still in the temporary detention facility (known as IVS) of the Mozdok District; however, they stopped torturing him after media publication, his relatives report. According to their version, an application has been submitted with a demand for his medical examination; and his advocate is about to lodge a complaint to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) about torture.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 28-year-old Chervaev was kidnapped on October 26 by armed people from the Mozdok marketplace, where he worked with his mother.

Relatives of the young man reported that Chervaev was kept at the IVS, and that he is accused of illegal arms and drugs possession. On October 28, one of his relatives was allowed to see Chervaev, who told his about torture with electric current with the aim to force him to confess to the armed attack on the DPS (road-and-patrol service) post on September 22.

At night on September 22, unidentified attackers shelled the DPS post located at the entrance to the village of Kalininsky and wounded three policemen. The attackers managed to escape.

Chervaev has been arrested for two months, said the relative. According to his version, at the time of the attack on the DPS post on September 22, Chervaev was at home.

Alim Chervaev was detained on October 26 in North Ossetia, the edition “Kavkaz.Realii” quotes the press service of the North-Ossetian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

The police assert that a grenade was found on Alim during his personal search.
