Authorities of Chechnya try to bring home mother of children returned from Iraq

The Chechen authorities are taking measures to return home the mother of the boys brought to Grozny from Iraq on October 12. This has been reported by officials from the administration for the Chechen leader and government of the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 11, three Chechen boys, the eldest of whom is six years old and two girls whose parents lived in Dagestan were brought to Moscow from Iraq. On October 12, at the airport of Grozny, the children were handed over to their relatives.

Despite the fact that the health states of the children brought to Chechnya do not raise any questions at first glance, they will undergo a complete medical examination in the coming days. This has been reported today by an official from the administration for the Chechen leader and government of the republic.

"In 2014, the boys were brought by their parents to Syria, and from there later they got to Iraq. The father of the children was killed, and their mother with a four-month-old girl is being kept in one of the Iraqi prisons," the official told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the official, the Chechen authorities are trying to resolve the problem of returning the boys' mother home with a young daughter. "The problem is serious, since we have to coordinate it with various authorities and resolve many issues. Nevertheless, there is a hope that in the near future the problem will be solved positively," noted the official from the administration for the Chechen leader and government of the republic.

The official has also emphasized that up to date, more than 20 children and four women have been returned to Russia from Iraq due to the efforts made by the Chechen authorities.
