Organizers of Volgograd gay pride parade complain to ECtHR

A complaint against the Volgograd Mayoralty's refusal to sanction a gay pride parade and rallies in November 2016 has been filed to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). This has been reported today by Nikolai Alekseev, an LGBT activist.

"We have filed an appeal to the ECtHR against the ban to hold a gay pride parade and two LGBT rallies in Volgograd in November 2016," Nikolai Alekseev wrote on his page in Twitter.

It should be noted that in November 2016, the Volgograd Mayoralty dismissed a notification for a gay pride parade, which was planned to be held in Fallen Fighters Square. Then, the Volgograd Mayoralty reported that the applicants had incorrectly drawn up the documents for the action. Later, the activists filed an appeal against the refusal to the Central District Court, but it supported the refusal of the Volgograd Mayoralty, the "Volga-Media" reported on February 17, 2017.
