Social network users criticize fire-fighting in Dagestan

The authorities and the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) fail to take sufficient measures to extinguish forest fires in hard-to-reach areas of Dagestan. This opinion was expressed by users of social networks. Aircrafts are involved in extinguishing the fires, reported the Dagestani MfE.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Dagestan, the highest class of fire danger was announced for September 17-19. According to the Dagestani MfE, three fires were registered on September 17. There are no threats to villages and towns, the MfE reports.

In social networks, users write that in mountainous and hard-to-reach areas, the fire-fighting process is inefficient or the fires are not extinguished at all, and residents live in smoke and fear for their houses. Meanwhile, some social network users believe it is ineffective to use aircrafts to extinguish fires in hard-to-reach areas and only rain can extinguish the fire.

"In the Djilikhur village of the Rutul District, the forest is on fire. The authorities do nothing. We have called the MfE, and they say the fire should be extinguished by human forces. But how? It should be extinguished from the sky. We cannot breathe and how should we sleep at night? We are afraid that the fire can come too close to houses. P.S. Allah heard our prayers, and tonight, heavy rainfall extinguished the fire," reported on September 17 the group "golos.dagestana" in Instagram.
