Opera singer Zurab Sotkilava dies in Moscow
The farewell ceremony for Zurab Sotkilava and his funeral will be held in Georgia. This was reported by the singer's wife.
Today, Zurab Sotkilava, a native of Sukhumi, has died in Moscow. He was 80 years old.
"Zurab Sotkilava, a wonderful artist of the Bolshoi Theatre, has died. He suffered from a serious decease with which he fought to the very end," reported Vladimir Urin, the general director of the Bolshoi Theatre, as quoted by the TASS.
A month ago, Zurab Sotkilava was hospitalized with an oncological disease to the Blokhin Scientific and Medical Centre of the Russian Ministry for Public Health, the TASS reports with reference to a source.
The singer made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre in 1973. He was also an honorary member of the Bologna Music Academy, the RIA "Novosti" reports. He was a member of the board at the NGO "Union of Georgians in Russia".
