Sochi resident Lyubov Garaeva sentenced to three years in prison

The court in Sochi has sentenced Lyubov Garaeva, a local resident, to three years of freedom deprivation under the article of a fraud. She was arrested in the courtroom.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 17, at the court, Garaeva declared her innocence and promised to return money to victims.

On June 15, Garaeva was accused of a large-scale fraud – amounting to 20 million roubles. Anna Koks, her daughter, confirmed that her mother borrowed large sums for the development of her business.

In her last plea, the defendant asked the court to "treat her condescendingly and take into account her monetary problems."

Nina Stulova, a victim, has noted that "before the verdict, Garaeva had assured her that she would return all the money to her."

According to the victims – Nina Stulova, Larisa Sheveleva, Eteri Djangdjava and Zhanna Kozaeva – in 2013, they gave Garaeva money to organize a collective business in Sochi of selling clothes from Turkey. However, later, the donators found out that Garaeva had been deprived of the status of individual entrepreneur back in 2012; they could not return the donated money.
