Residents of six Kuban districts claim "return of serfdom"

On August 3, more than 30 video appeals of residents of Cossack villages and farm yards from six districts of the Krasnodar Territory to President Vladimir Putin were published on the Internet. Authors of the video records complain about seizures of land plots by large agricultural holdings.

A series of video appeals is posted on the YouTube channel of the Interregional Public Movement "All are equal before the law and the court". Local farmers and owners of land plots from different regions claim that when a Rostov agricultural company came to the Krasnodar Territory, a principle of "serfdom was in fact revived in Kuban." According to the people, the company forces them to conclude lease agreements for a period of 10, 15, or even more years.

"We are not owners of our own land plots, and we are deprived of the opportunity to work with a farmer who pays well and steadily, who takes care of a Cossack village and who lives on the same street with us. Those raiders simply bankrupt other small farmers and owners of farms by forcing them to refuse cultivated plots in favour of their numerous companies," reports the press release of the Interregional Public Movement "All are equal before the law and the court", which became available for the "Caucasian Knot".

At present, 33 videos are posted on the YouTube channel of the Interregional Public Movement "All are equal before the law and the court". Their number includes individual appeals to President Putin and videos on behalf of entire families and Cossack villages.
