In Makhachkala, more than 1000 people come to rally against abortions

In Dagestan, prevention of abortions would have allowed avoiding a decline in the birth rate, marked in the republic in recent years. This was declared by organizers of the rally in Makhachkala.

The rally was organized by the Dagestani Ministry for Public Health as a part of the federal action "Give Me Life". According to the organizers of the event, the campaign to prevent abortions is aimed at strengthening families and preserving family traditions.

On July 15, the rally with the performance of well-known Dagestan artists took place at the place in front of the Russian Theatre. During the action, everyone could receive consultations of doctors, in particular, obstetricians and gynaecologists, on family planning and reproductive health, the press service of the Dagestani Ministry for Public Health reports.

During the rally, Raisa Shakhsinova, the chief of the department for maternal and children health protection of the Dagestani Ministry for Public Health, has reported that in Dagestan, the number of abortions decreases annually; however, the Ministry sets up a goal to prevent all abortions. During the recent 2.5 years, there has been a decline in the birth rate in Dagestan, which could have been avoided if several thousand women had not made abortions, the official has noted.
