Astrakhan women sentenced to 8-12 years of imprisonment for human trafficking

The Lenin District Court of Astrakhan has found three local women guilty of human trafficking in an organized group and sentenced them to 8-12 years of imprisonment.

Investigators and the Court have found out that in October 2013, Natalia Maleeva and Natalia Krasnova from Astrakhan, two participants of a criminal grouping, sold to a woman from Dagestan a young woman for 5000 US dollars for her further transportation to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for sexual services. Besides, in the same period of time, Natalia Maleeva recruited and transported a young woman to Turkey and got cash reward for that, the investigators suggest.

Natalia Maleeva, Natalia Krasnova, and Kalimat Magomedova tried to use the similar method to sell two other young women to the UAE, but the recruited young women appealed to the police and later stayed under the law enforcers' control.

Natalia Maleeva and Natalia Krasnova have been sentenced to 12 years, and Kalimat Magomedova to 8 years of imprisonment in a common-security penal colony.

Earlier, on May 20, 2014, the court pronounced the verdict against Raziyat Magomedova, who was recognized as an organizer of the criminal grouping. The woman was sentenced to 8.5 years of imprisonment in a common-security penal colony.
