Volodya Avetisyan released from prison in Armenia

Today, Volodya Avetisyan, a veteran of the Karabakh war, a participant of protest actions in Yerevan, sentenced in the fraud case, has been released. He has already voiced his intention to continue his struggle for justice.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Volodya Avetisyan, an active participant of the protests of the Karabakh war veterans, was detained on September 20, 2013. Investigators charged him of fraud, and on July 17, 2014, the court sentenced him to six years of imprisonment and a fine. The court repeatedly refused Volodya Avetisyan in conditional early relief (CER).

After his release, in his comments to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, Volodya Avetisyan has noted that he intends to start a sitting picket with a demand to review the procedure for conditional early release in Armenia.

According to Volodya Avetisyan, "the CER system does not work in Armenia, and the independent commission refuses prisoners without any grounds in the chance to be released under the CER system."

Volodya Avetisyan has been released as a result of the reduction of his sentence term due to the amnesty of 2013, the "Panorama.am" reports.
