With opening of Islamic Centre, Muslims of Sochi get three rooms for praying

On May 22, the Islamic Cultural Centre was opened in Sochi. The City Mayor's Office has announced the expansion of opportunities for prayer for 10,000 local Muslims. The Mufti for Adygea and Kuban has called opening of such centres a guarantee of tranquillity in the region.

The message reporting the opening of the Islamic Cultural Centre in Sochi was received by the "Caucasian Knot" SMS service on May 22.

Due to the opening of the third prayer room in the Islamic Cultural Centre in Sochi, 10,000 Muslims of Sochi were given the opportunity to expand the prayer rooms. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Irina Popko-Sadchikova, an official of the administration for the city of Sochi.

The construction of the Islamic Cultural Centre in Sochi took a year and a half. According to Askarbiy Kardanov, Mufti of Adygea and Kuban, the construction was financed by donations of believers.

"The opening of such centres is a guarantee of tranquillity in our region. The Islamic Cultural Centre will undoubtedly bring even more stability and mutual support to our region. It will serve to preserve and revive cultural traditions and strengthen interethnic and interreligious harmony," announced Askarbiy Kardanov at the opening of the centre as quoted by the "Komsomolskaya Pravda".
