Makhachkala: policeman complains about beating up at IVS

An employee of the temporary detention centre (known as the IVS) said that he was beaten up by an officer and fired after the incident.

Imran Kurbanaliev, a resident of Makhachkala, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, that on April 23, during his duty service at the IVS, an officer, in the presence of witnesses, rudely addressed him and struck him several times.

"He tried to throw me on the floor and began punching me on the head with his fists, speaking obscene language," Kurbanaliev said, adding that the conflict broke out because of the official check, initiated against Imran Kurbanaliev for the reasons unknown to him.

"I began clearing out the reasons for the check; this triggered the conflict," he said.

After the conflict, Kurbanaliev called a police unit and told them what had happened. The policemen who arrived to the place took explanations of both Kurbanaliev and the officer.

"I wanted to go immediately and fix the traces of beatings, but my boss did not let me go anywhere, and kept me at the IVS at work with headaches until the lunchtime of the next day," he said.

On April 25, Imran Kurbanaliev was called up to the IVS and handed documents on dismissal. He was told that the dismissal was caused by the fact that he "had repeatedly wrangled with his bosses."
