Truckers of North Ossetia announce termination of their protest action

The carriers from North Ossetia, protesting against the “Platon” system, began leaving the protest camp. Some of them return to work in order to pay off their credits, while others do not intend to go on routes yet.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that truckers of North Ossetia set up one protest camp near the village of Kardjin, the second one – near Digora. On April 17, they sent a letter to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev with a demand to cancel the "Platon" system and the transport tax.

Today, the camp near Digora has about 30 trucks, seven others have left, said the trucker Taimuraz Gazalov.

Valery Salagaev, another participant of the strike from Digora, said that on Thursday truckers decided to disperse. According to his story, in Kardjin protesters have already begun to leave the camp.

Yuri Dzgoev, who is on strike in Kardjin, has explained that some truckers had left the camp, but would not work for the time being.

According to his story, the decision was made after the arrival of journalist Maxim Shevchenko in Dagestan. He promised the truckers to bring their problems to the government.

On April 15, despite protests, the tariff of the "Platon" system for heavy trucks’ travelling on federal highways was raised by 25%.
