In Astrakhan, tenants of dilapidated house demand resettlement

In Astrakhan, tenants of a dilapidated house in the Trusovsky District demand to resettle them to a safe house. The resettlement will take place with the availability of financing and free premises in the manoeuvrable fund, officials from the City Mayor's Office report.

According to the tenants, the house number 1 "A" in Soviet Guard Street was built 45 years ago to a hostel for workers of a rubber footwear factory. On July 29, 2014, the house was recognized as dilapidated. However, the repair works began only in March 2017.

On April 14, people pumped water out of the basement of the house, and on two balconies of the second floor, builders carried out fortification works.

According to Gulnara Alieva, a tenant of the dilapidated house, mould appears in her room, and a wall in the toilet collapses.

The woman has also noted that rubber and asphalt plants are located about a kilometre from the house, and in the summer, the tenants "cannot actually breathe."

According to Vera Matveeva, a consulting lawyer of the department for human rights of the Ombudsman's Office in the Astrakhan Region, the Ombudsman's lawyers filed an appeal to the head of the Astrakhan administration with a request to provide the information on the reasons for the violation of the terms of resettlement of citizens and the volume of the repairs to be conducted.
