As a result of the disorders in Batumi, 18 protesters and 15 policemen suffered, the Minister of Public Health of Adjara has reported.

On March 11, a spontaneous protest action occurred in front of the building of the Chief Department of Internal Affairs of Adjara, the participants of which demanded to release the local residents, detained the day before, and to dismiss the patrol police boss Malkhaz Batiashvili. The confrontation of protesters with policemen turned into disorders. Some cars were burned down and power line posts were kicked down in Batumi.

According to Zaal Mikeladze, the Minister of Public Health of Adjara, 33 people were hospitalized in Batumi, including 15 policemen. Most of them "received minor injuries and were discharged from hospitals after outpatient treatment," said Mikeladze, adding that “the three patients poisoned by gas have also left the hospital." According to his story, as of the morning on March 12, "only one patient, presumably with brain concussion, is still in hospital," the “Georgia-Online” reports.
