Prisoner of Ingush SIZO voices threats against POC members, Magomed Mutsolgov reports
A senior Ingush policeman, arrested on suspicion of abusing a detainee, has threatened members of the Public Oversight Commission (POC). Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the human rights organization "Mashr", has appealed to the investigating authorities with a request to investigate the incident.
"For all the years I exercise public control at SIZO (pre-trial prison), the case became the first one when insults or threats were voiced against members of the POC," Magomed Mutsolgov wrote in his blog on the "Caucasian Knot".
Bagaudin Khadziev, Deputy Chairman of the POC, has added that the arrested policeman behaved aggressively. He was shouting and expressing threats against Magomed Mutsolgov.
According to Magomed Mutsolgov, when the arrested policeman was still a staff member of the police, he summoned him several times for questioning, and no conflicts arose.
Abubakar Tsechoev, a member of the POC, has assumed that such behaviour of the arrested policeman can be explained by the fact that the man never imagined that his status would change dramatically and he would found himself behind bars.
