Son and nephew of "Unity" leader detained in Armenia

A son and a nephew of Vardan Oskanyan, the former Foreign Minister of Armenia, have kidnapped a man and threatened to kill him, investigators assert.

According to law enforcers, Ara Oskanyan and his cousin Seradaryan, while demanding from the victim to repay the debt of 1.5 million drams, put him into a car and brought to the city of Abovyan, threatening to kill him.

Ara Oskanyan and Seradaryan were detained on February 17. A criminal case was opened against them under Article 133 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (illegal deprivation of one’s liberty), the Investigating Committee of Armenia has stated.

The detainees refused to testify, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports referring to investigators.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Vardan Oskanyan became one of the leaders of the "Oganyan-Raffi-Oskanyan" bloc, created for the parliamentary elections scheduled for April 2.
