"Green Patrol" announces creation of branch in Volgograd
Activists of the All-Russian public organization "Green Patrol" have announced the creation of a regional branch in Volgograd. The organization will launch a "hotline" for receiving complaints from residents of Volgograd, and start fighting illegal dumps in the region, said activists of the "Green Patrol".
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the 2016 ranking of the "Green Patrol" the Volgograd Region took the 49th place. Townspeople sometimes complain about emissions in industrial areas and suffocating smells.
On February 9, activists of the organization conducted an ecological raid, said Andrei Nagibin, the Chairman of the "Green Patrol".
According to his story, the region has about 700 illegal dumps. Mr Nagibin has criticized the measures to cope with wastes taken in the region, adding that his activists have also inspected the construction of the largest waste processing factory, built in the city of Volzhski.
Yaroslav Knyazev, the chair of the regional branch of the "Green Patrol", said that activists have already begun making an inventory of illegal dumps.
Let us remind you that earlier, the Volgograd Region had drafted a strategy on waste management.
