Rally in memory of those killed in Chechnya held in Adygea
On January 2, Adygea marks the Memory Day of soldiers, who perished in local conflicts, within which a mourning rally was held at the memorial near the Maikop garrison.
22 years ago more than 100 soldiers, sergeants and officers of the 131st Maikop Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade perished in the warfare in Chechnya, the "Argumenty i Facty-Adygea" reports.
In the course of the 1994-1995 New Year's storming of Grozny, the city was captured by Russian troops. The losses of the parties during the storm amounted to more than eight thousand people; and according to various estimates, the death toll of civilians in Grozny ranged from 5 to 25 thousand people. The above 131st Brigade and the 81st (Samara) Motorized Infantry Regiment, which were advancing from the north-westerly direction under the command of General K. Pulikovsky were almost completely defeated. More than a hundred soldiers were captured.
The mourning rally in Adygea was attended by veterans of the 131st Motorized Rifle Brigade, relatives and friends of the casualties, representatives of municipal and republic's authorities, Cossacks, the clergy, the "Yuga.ru" reports.
