Gagra residents remain without water for four days

After the recent storm in Abkhazia, water supply has stopped to houses of the city of Gagra. For the fourth day already, specialists are repairing the main water intake station of the city.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 3 Abkhazia was hit by a gale and downpour. On December 4, because of the calamity, some local residents were left without power and water supplies.

Water supply in Gagra remains broken since December 3, when the storm severely damaged the main water intake station of Gagra, said Yuri Tsulukiya, the head of the city water supply and disposal utility.

According to his story, the storm caused a collapse of 80 meters of the retaining walls; and water took away 700 meters of water pipe. It is planned to restore water supply by a new water supply line, the "Sputnik-Abkhazia" reports.

The water supply restoration deadline in Gagra is not specified yet.

According to the 2011 census, the population of Gagra made 12,364 residents, the "Abkhazia2016.org" adds.
