Dagestani leader demands from officials to cut budget-funded festivities

In his Decree "On some measures to further strengthen the public morality in the Republic of Dagestan", Ramazan Abdulatipov encourages local officials to reduce the number of celebrations financed from the budget and give up "all sorts of excesses."

Ramazan Abdulatipov also notes in the decree that in Dagestan, there was a "positive practice of holding commemorative, cultural, family, and other festivities." However, "such events are often carried out on a large scale, combined with too wasteful expenditure, clear demonstration of material wealth affluence and influence of organizers, as well as with other negative phenomena, which fail to comply with the traditions and moral values of the people of Dagestan and which are able to provoke very negative reaction of the population."

According to the decree published on the official website of the Dagestani leader, it is recommended to "take measures to ensure the established order for holding in the Republic of Dagestan of any anniversary, commemorative, cultural and sporting events, preventing the practice of celebrating anniversaries with excessive material and financial costs."

Besides, Ramazan Abdulatipov has decided to reduce the number of ongoing celebrations financed from the budget.
