Father of Varvara Karaulova reports about her collaboration with secret services
At the trial, the farther of Varvara Karaulova has claimed that after her return from Turkey, his daughter was under the FSB control. According to the farther, Varvara Karaulova resumed the correspondence with recruiters at the initiative of investigators.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 19, Pavel Karaulov reported that the Russian FSB agents, who accompanied him and his daughter, argued that investigators refused to institute a criminal case against Varvara.
Starting from October 5, the Moscow District Military Court considers the case against Varvara Karaulova, a student of the Moscow State University (MSU), accused of an attempt to join a terrorist organization in Syria.
According to Pavel Karaulov, he read his daughter's correspondence with a man named Vlad (suspected recruiter Airat Samatov, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), and "it was clear attempts of turning her into a zombie."
Pavel Karaulov has stated that "on behalf of his daughter, FSB agents exchanged letters with her lover (the suspected recruiter, note of the 'Caucasian Knot')."
Witness Nikolai Pavlov, Professor of Arabic language of the Institute of Asia and Africa, who stays in Egypt, has reported that Varvara Karaulova, a student of the Philology Faculty of the Moscow State University, used to attend his courses.
"I saw her wearing a hijab. She was reserved and unsociable. In May 2015, I was addressed by the mother of Varvara Karaulova, who said she was lost and could be recruited," Judge Alexander Ababkov read out the testimony given by Nikolai Pavlov.
Thereon, the questioning of Pavel Karaulov as a witness for the prosecution has been finished.
