Power agents treat militants killed in CTO in KBR as newcomers

The suspected militants, killed in the vicinity of the village of Yanikoy, had recently gone underground and had no combat experience, said a law enforcement source.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on October 9 two inspectors of the road-and-post service (known as the DPS) were killed. Four young men were searched on suspicion of committing the murder; and on October 13, in the course of a counterterrorist operation (CTO), three of them – Murat Kaufov, Islam Nagoev and Aslabek Nakhushev – were killed.

The above murder of DPS inspectors was the first attack committed by the grouping, said the source.

According to his version, Murat Kaufov, 20, and Islam Nagoev, 24, lived in Dugulubgei, and Aslanbek Nakhushev, 22, was a native of the village of Islamey. They went underground in early October.

Also, power agents believe that Akhmed Shevkhuzhev, 22, from Dugulubgei was in the car. He was wounded in the shootout, but managed to escape.

The police message says that Kaufov had been convicted for document forgery and trafficking in counterfeit goods; and Aslanbek Nakhushev – for a theft.

Akhmed Shevkhuzhev is the youngest son of Sultan Shevkhuzhev, who was killed in June 2009 during a CTO in Nalchik. After the killing of the father, Akhmed and his elder brother Mukhamed were taken to the Centre for Combating Extremism.

According to the NAC, the killers of the inspectors were also preparing to commit a terror act on October 14 – the anniversary of the attack on Nalchik.
