CTO in Derbent aimed at searching extortionists
Power agents have conducted a counterterrorist operation (CTO) in the city of Derbent within the inquiry into cases of extorting tribute from owners of fuelling stations, said a local law enforcement source.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the CTO regime was introduced in Derbent on October 16. Two persons were killed in the CTO. The Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) said that the killed Magomed Mavlukov and Ikras Muradov had been wanted for organizing a bandit grouping and illegal drug dealing.
Power agents conducted the CTO near the cemetery in the "Airport" micro-district; they detected two armed men there, who opened fire at an attempt to detain them and were shot dead by return fire.
According to the source, the slain Mavlukov and Muradov were members of the "Magaramkent" militant grouping, and before – of the "Tabasaran" grouping (both groupings are subdivisions of the "Southern" militant group). They went underground last year, the "Kommersant" reports.
