Georgia: alleged organizer of pogroms at elections arrested
The court has ruled to place Giya Mkheidze, a resident of Georgia, suspected of organizing pogroms at two polling stations – Nos. 79 and 108 in the village of Djikhashkari, – into pre-trial custody, the "Interfax" reports citing its source from the court.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Georgia, Giya Mkheidze led the grouping, which broke, in the evening on October 8, into polling station No. 79, when they started counting votes there, and then smashed polling station No. 108.
Let us remind you that, according to Mina Skouen, a rights defender from Norway, a member of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee, who monitored the elections, during the above pogroms of the polling stations in the village of Djikhashkari, Zugdidi District of Georgia, the attackers took away mobile phones from observers, and hit a female observer several times on the head.
