Defence of Kurman-Ali Baichorov demands to check prosecution evidence

The Stavropol Regional Court has postponed for September 27 the court hearing in the case against Kurman-Ali Baichorov, Imam of Kislovodsk, accused of drug trafficking. The Court has provided the public prosecutor with time to get acquainted with the defence motion to check the prosecution evidence.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today, the Court has banned video recording of court hearings in the case against Kurman-Ali Baichorov and permitted to shoot on video only the pronouncement of the outcome of the hearings. Besides, the judge has also refused to grant the defence motion for disqualification of the public prosecutor.

Let us remind you that in January 2015, Kurman-Ali Baichorov was sentenced to 3.5 years of imprisonment in a penal colony. The Imam claimed that the drugs had been planted to him. In February 2016, the Stavropol Regional Court cancelled the verdict and sent the case for re-investigation. The defendant was released from the SIZO (pre-trial prison) on recognizance not to leave.
