Residents of four NCFD regions lose interest in elections

The preliminary data on voter turnout in comparison with the 2011 similar election campaign indicate a downward trend in the interest of residents of Chechnya, Stavropol Territory, Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) and Ingushetia to the election of Russian State Duma MPs. However, this time, the voter turnout has increased slightly in Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) and North Ossetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that voting in Russia on September 18 was held under a mixed system: 225 MPs were elected by party lists; and 225 MPs – in single-mandate constituencies.

In the Stavropol Territory, according to preliminary data of the Regional Election Commission (REC), the voter turnout made 44.6% of all the registered voters.

In Chechnya, as of 6:00 p.m. on September 18, the turnout was 83.80%.

In the KChR, the turnout was 93.32%.

In the KBR, the voter turnout was 90.11%, said Sergey Evtushenko, the deputy chairman of the REC.

As of 6:00 p.m. Moscow time, the turnout in Ingushetia was 71.8%, the RIA "Novosti" has reported.

In Dagestan, according to preliminary data, the turnout was 86.87%, the "Chernovik" weekly reports with reference to the REC.

In North Ossetia, according to the REC's preliminary information, the voter turnout was 85.7%.

According to preliminary estimates, overall throughout Russia, the voter turnout made 47.81%, the TASS reports, quoting Ella Pamfilova, the Chair of the Russia's Central Election Commission (CEC).
