Two officers of battalion "Sever" charged with extortion

The charge has been filed against five persons, including two members of the battalion "Sever" (North), arrested in the case of extortion of 100 million roubles from a Moscow businessman. The defendants plead not guilty.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 17, it became known about the detention in Moscow of natives of Northern Caucasus, including two Chechen policemen, suspected of extorting money from a Moscow businessman. On the same day, the Tver District Court of Moscow pronounced the decision to arrest entrepreneur Evgeny Katkov, Chechen policemen Said Akhmaev and Lechi Bolatbaev, and brothers Movladi and Akhmed Bulguchev, natives of Ingushetia.

Since Said Akhmaev and Lechi Bolatbaev are officers of the 248th separate special motorized battalion "Sever", the criminal case has been sent to the Chief Investigating Department for Moscow of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

According to investigators, the defendants demanded from Konstantin Zhukov, a business partner of Evgeny Katkov, to give them 45 million roubles and to buy a Bentley car for the defendants in the case as a compensation for the trouble caused. They threatened the victim to create "serious problems" for him.
