Employees of Volgograd factory demand indexation of unpaid wages
On August 18, a rally was held by employees of the Volgograd Factory of Drilling Equipment (known as the VZBT), organized by local Communists. According to organizers, the rally was 400 people strong.
In July, the Arbitration Court of the Volgograd Region decided to impose on the VZBT the procedure of monitoring for a period of six months. The factory’s accounts receivable exceed 3.1 billion roubles, including wage debts of 168.2 million roubles.
The rally ended with adoption of a resolution, in which workers demanded not only to pay out the arrears of wages, but also to index the debts in accordance with the rouble exchange rate changes within the last years.
"Inflation eats up a share of our unpaid wages, starting since April 2014,” Evgeny Teplyakov, an employee of the economic security and guard service, explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. “We demand to index the unpaid workers’ wages."
The VZBT is the only Russian factory, manufacturing not only drilling equipment, but also accessories and spare parts thereto.
"Now, it’s a difficult time, when it’s necessary to create jobs, and not to bankrupt such large enterprises. On August 8, 2015, the Arbitration Court imposed a ban on sale of the factory’s property; we demand to cancel the arbitral decision and start the selling procedure of VZBT property, initiate a criminal case on this fact, confiscate the property of the factory bosses, put the factory on sale and start paying workers' wage debts," said Teplyakov.
