Native of Uzbekistan states kidnapping after marrying Chechen girl

A 29-year-old Shakhnazar Kazakov was kidnapped by power agents in early June in Moscow and delivered to Grozny, his relatives assert. According to Kazakov himself, he was detained because of his Muslim marriage to a Chechen girl; and he is now in Grozny, awaiting deportation.

According to Mukhabat Kazakova, a citizen of Uzbekistan, her 29-year-old son Shakhnazar Kazakov was kidnapped on June 1 in Moscow by employees of some power agency, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. The woman asserts that her son "live just for five days with his common-law wife."

"On June 1, we all were awakened by a knock on the door. We opened the door, and some 7-8 men broke into our home. There were policemen and several Chechens among them. They took away my son and his wife," said Kazakova.

On June 5 she submitted her application to the prosecutor's office of the South-West Administrative District of Moscow. According to the woman, her son "a few days later contacted her," and said he was in Grozny at the police station.

Shakhnazar Kazakov said that he "was in custody unable to appeal against his deportation."

In her turn, the mother – Mukhabat Kazakova – said that "shortly before her son's marriage, members of her family members had applied for Russian citizenship."

She added that on July 25 she turned for help to the "Civil Assistance" Committee; and on July 27 she planned to file a complaint to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".
