In Gukovo, miners announce continuation of their protests

In the Rostov Region, miners of the "Kingcoal" have got a sanction from the authorities for a series of the pickets, which they intend to continue until September 19. In the case if their demands for payment of wages and abolition of fines and fees for overdue loans and debts for housing and utilities are not met, the miners intend to use other legal methods to struggle for their rights. This was announced by participants of the protest campaign.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from May, in the Rostov Region, workers of the company "Kingcoal South" began to hold pickets. The main demand of the protesters is to repay wage arrears.

The participants of the protest action told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the picketers had submitted a notification for holding pickets in the period from July 22 to September 19, 2016. The administration has sanctioned the protests.

"In order to attract the public attention to our problems, we also plan to hold a demonstration and a rally in the city centre on August 6," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Dmitri Kovalenko, one of the members of the initiative group to coordinate the protest actions.

"In case of their failure to meet our demands, we are ready to take other measures, including hunger strike," Dmitry Kovalenko has added.
