Prosecutor's Office quashes initiation of case against Makhachkala Mayor's son

The Dagestani Prosecutor's Office has cancelled the decision to initiate a criminal case on use of violence against power agents against Badrudin Musaev, a son of Musa Musaev, Mayor of Makhachkala, said law enforcement and power sources.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Badrudin Musaev, who happened to be a participant of a road conflict, had been accused under Part 2, Article 318 (use of violence threatening the life and health of an authority in connection with the performance of the latter of his duties), of the Russian Criminal Code. Investigators demanded to place him in custody, but on June 20 the court refused to do it.

The road conflict involving Badrudin Musaev occurred on May 31. According to investigators, the GIBDD (traffic police) stopped a foreign-made car, but people, who were inside it, staged a brawl with policemen. One of them had a broken finger, two others received hurts. Also, according to a source from the investigating bodies, at the moment of detention, Musaev tried to trip his car over the policeman, who tried to stop it.

The resolution of the preliminary investigation bodies to initiate a criminal case against Badrudin Musaev was cancelled on June 28 by Sergey Belyakov, the Acting Public Prosecutor of Dagestan, the "Chernovik" weekly reports citing its law enforcement source.
