The woman, who was seriously wounded by the explosion at the GIBDD (traffic police) checkpoint in the Derbent District, has died in hospital, said Ramazan Abdulatipov, the head of Dagestan. Thus, according to official data, she is the fourth casualty of the blast, including the suicide bomber.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the explosion at the GIBDD post near the village of Djemikent occurred in the morning on February 15. The man, who blew up a car near the post, was pre-identified as Admir Talibov, a native of Dagestan and a student of the Astrakhan University. According to power agents, he was a supporter of the ideology of the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia.

The woman wounded by the explosion died at hospital, Ramazan Abdulatipov said on February 16.

"When I was at the scene of the explosion yesterday (on February 15) in the morning, there were two casualties – two policemen: one from Mordovia and one from Dagestan... Later yesterday, the woman died," the website of the head of the republic quotes Mr Abdulatipov's words on February 16.

He added that the crime was aimed at law enforcers.

"Law enforcement bodies do not qualify the crime as a terror act, because there are no accompanying political claims, and no statements on this issue," said Abdulatipov.
