Ingush NGOs demand from Yunus-Bek Evkurov to stop pressure on Magomed Mutsolgov

In Ingushetia, NGOs have appealed to Yunus-Bek Evkurov with a request to ensure the right of Magomed Mutsolgov to implementation of human rights activities. Besides, the Ingush NGOs have also called on the Ingush leader to condemn the campaign on defamation of Ingush public institutions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 6, in Ingushetia, men in masks carried out searches at the office of the human rights organization "Mashr" and the home of its leader Magomed Mutsolgov, an author of the blog on the "Caucasian Knot". On December 9, Magomed Mutsolgov was notified that child porn photos were discovered on his PC seized during the searches. On December 22, in the course of the preliminary investigation, investigators questioned former staff employees of the "Mashr" and relatives of Magomed Mutsolgov.

On December 28, 13 Ingush NGOs addressed Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov with an open appeal in support of Magomed Mutsolgov.

"We ask you to intervene in the situation and to ensure the constitutional rights of Magomed Mutsolgov to implementation of his human rights activities," the appeal announces.

Members of Ingush NGOs believe that provocations of the above kind have a negative impact on the image of Ingushetia, which "has in short time managed to position itself as a stable and developing region."

Earlier, experts have explained the searches of the "Mashr" office by the struggle with dissent.
