Members of armed grouping suspected of attempt on Serzh Sargsyan

Members of the criminal grouping, detained in Yerevan, were planning to seize several facilities and blow up the plane of the President of Armenia. This was reported by the newspaper "Hraparak" with reference to a source from the law enforcement bodies of Armenia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 25, the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia announced the detention of 10 members of an armed grouping, who, according to investigators, were plotting a series of serious crimes. In late November, the number of detainees reached 21. On December 19, it was reported on the detention of Vaan Shirkhanyan, the former Deputy Defence Minister, suspected of involvement in the armed grouping.

Today, the Armenian newspaper "Hraparak" has reported with reference to its source in the law enforcement bodies that among the other crimes, members of the armed grouping were plotting to commit an attack on the plane of President Serzh Sargsyan.

"The armed grouping had five units, and they planned to capture simultaneously the residence of the President, the Government, the Parliament, the Constitutional Court, and the TV tower. Their main operation was to blow up the plane of the President of Armenia, who was preparing for a visit to France," the newspaper "Hraparak" reports.
