Experts state Gamzatov's high chance to become head of Buynaksk

The early election of the Mayor of Buynaksk, who will be elected on September 8 by Deputies of the City Assembly, comply with the law, the city administration asserts. The Dagestani journalists Magomed Magomedov and Ramazan Radjabov are confident of the victory of the ex-Mayor of Gusein Gamzatov, who had resigned on the eve of the election; and treat Osman Osmanov, who headed Buynaksk in 1997-2001, as his real rival.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 4 residents of Buynaksk held a rally at the building of the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan in Makhachkala with a demand to postpone the election of the head of Buynaksk from September 8 to some later date, after September 13, when the Deputies of the District Assembly will be elected.

A source in the administration of Buynaksk has confirmed that on August 11 a contest was announced for the post of the head of the city after the early resignation of Gusein Gamzatov.

The source has noted that he sees no legal violations in the early election of the city Mayor to be elected by Deputies of the old convocation of the City Assembly.

In the opinion of Magomed Magomedov, an observer for the Dagestani weekly "Chernovik", the only Gamzatov's rival is Osman Osmanov, the former head of Buynaksk and the Sovietskiy District of Makhachkala.

According to his story, the policy in Buynaksk is simple: the deputies' seats and the key positions in the city administration are occupied by members of Gamzatov's team. Magomedov believes that Buynaksk is "in some hole in the informational and political aspects."
