CaT states police inaction during pogrom in Grozny

Employees of the human rights organization Committee against Torture (CaT) have turned to law enforcement bodies of Chechnya on the attack on the office of the Joint Mobile Group (JMG) in Grozny.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 3 during a rally held at the office of rights defenders in Grozny, unidentified persons attacked the office of JMG, which used as a working place of the Committee against Torture (CaT) as well.

According to Igor Kalyapin, the head of the CaT, currently, several applications in connection with the yesterday's pogrom in Grozny are being lodged to the police and the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

"Among other things, we claim the inaction of the police. After all, despite our numerous calls about the attack, the police failed to react until everything was over," the "Interfax" quotes Igor Kalyapin as saying.
