Two PFPA activists arrested
In Baku, Tyurkel Alisoy (Azertyurk) and Sadif Gurbanov, activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), have been subjected to administrative arrests on charges of disobeying the police. The PFPA associates the arrests with the opposition rally held on April 5.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 5, the rally was held at the sporting and recreational complex of the Yasamal District in Baku under the slogan: "No robbery and deceit!" It was organized by the National Council of Democratic Forces (NCDF). The rally was carried out with the demand to compensate the population the losses from the depreciation of the national currency.
On April 6, the Khatai District Court of Baku sentenced Tyurkel Alisoy (Azertyurk), a member of the Youth Committee of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), to 15 days of administrative arrest for disobeying the legitimate demands of the police. This was reported by Eltadj Alisoy, a brother of the activist.
On the same day, Sadif Gurbanov, the leader of the Sabail district organization of the PFPA, was arrested for 25 days on the same charge. He was detained in the office of the real estate company where he worked. This was reported by Gezyal Bairamly, the Deputy Chair of the PFPA.
Members of the PFPA believe that the young people were arrested on politically motivated charges.
