Khasavyurt court refused to satisfy MIA's claim to Sapiyat Magomedova
The Khasavyurt City Court has dismissed the lawsuit on protection of honour and dignity put forward by the Dagestani MIA Interior Ministry against the lawyer Sapiyat Magomedova.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the above MIA sued the lawyer Magomedova after she had commented to media the situation in the case of Shamil Salatgereev, a resident of Dagestan, convicted for a theft.
According to Sapiyat Magomedova, on September 18, 2013, Shamil Salatgereev, a resident of the village of Kalininaul, Kazbek District of Dagestan, who was detained on suspicion of thefts, was tortured by policemen and then tried to commit suicide. The MIA demanded from Sapiyat Magomedova to refute this information within 10 days.
On December 22, the court announced its decision on the lawsuit; and Sapiyat Magomedova explained the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent: "The court has completely dismissed all the MIA's claims."
She added that she did not know the motivation for the dismissal, as she had no decision itself in her hands at the moment.
