Flat of rights defender Rasul Djafarov searched in Azerbaijan
On July 31, Azerbaijani investigators conducted a search of the flat of Rasul Djafarov, a human rights activist and coordinator of the campaign "The Art for Democracy". The search took place after a six-hour-long interrogation of Djafarov as a witness at the investigating department for grave crimes of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO).
According to Djafarov, he was interrogated for six hours under a certain criminal case against "some local and international NGOs." He explained that investigators asked him about the grants that he received in 2011-2013.
Djafarov added that prosecutors behaved correctly during the interrogation and the search.
He reminded that on July 30 he filed judicial complaints against the GPO's decision to ban his leaving the country and arrest his bank accounts.
