Abashidze: 'If Georgian special operations units enter Adjaria, they will meet with fitting rebuff'

"The autonomy's authorities are ready to defend constitutional order in Adjaria and the republican population," head of Adjaria Aslan Abashidze said to Adjaria TV Company. It was his comment on the statement by Georgian Interior Minister Giorgy Baramidze that Tbilisi did not rule out the possibility of conducting a special police operation in Adjaria. "If Georgian special operations units enter the autonomy, they will meet with a fitting rebuff," Aslan Abashidze emphasized.

He noted that the situation that has arisen around Adjaria reminded him the situation with South Osetia and Abkhazia and voiced his readiness to meet with the central leadership of Georgia at the bargaining table.
