Azerbaijani journalist Aynur Imranova questioned as witness in criminal case
Today, Aynur Imranova, an investigative journalist, whose bank accounts were arrested by a court ruling, was questioned at the Investigating Department for Grave Crimes of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Azerbaijan as a witness in a criminal case initiated "against a number of local and international non-governmental organizations."
Imranova herself told about it to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding: "Since I've signed a non-disclosure agreement, I can't give any details of the criminal case. Personally, I was asked about my participation in NGOs' projects and received small grants and royalties for my publications. The investigator asked if I had paid taxes. I said that all my activities were carried out in accordance with the legislation."
The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent could not learn at the press service of the GPO the names of particular NGOs, against which the above criminal case was opened. The service refrained from comments, citing the absence of information.
So far, none of the local or international NGOs operating in Azerbaijan has reported about any criminal prosecution, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
