KBR: Dugulubgey villager suspected of helping members of armed underground

As reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), a 25-year-old resident of the village of Dugulubgey was detained on suspicion of possession of explosive devices and providing help to members of illegal armed formations (IAFs).

In the Gazel van, driven by the young man, policemen found an improvised explosive device (IED) with the power of 200 grams of TNT equivalent, a grenade, and 48 various calibre cartridges.

The detainee confessed that since 2012 he helped IAF members acting in the Baksan District by supplying food, medical supplies and equipment, and also transported them.

A criminal case was opened against the young man under Articles 222 (illegal purchase, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, its main parts, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices) and 223 (illegal manufacture of weapons) of the Russian Criminal Code.

Investigators are also thinking about Article 208, dealing with the organization of an IAF or participation therein.
