Dagestan: leaders of Tarkin community councils placed under home arrest
Magomedamin Magomedov and Zalimkhan Valiev, the leaders of Tarkin settlements, detained for 48 hours by decision of the investigator of the Inquiry Division of the Dagestani NIA, were released from temporary detention and placed, under the ruling of the Kirov District Court of Makhachkala, under home arrest.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the morning on May 17, Magomedamin Magomedov and Zalimkhan Valiev, the leaders of community councils of the villages of Tarki and Kyakhulay, were detained on charges of arbitrariness and placed into the detention facility for 48 hours. On the same day their fellow villagers gathered in a Makhachkala and demanded their release.
Zalimkhan Valiev said that the reason for bringing them to justice was the statement made by Sapiyulla Bammatov, the head of the LLC "PFK Mars".
Let us remind you that conflicts associated with land issues regularly occur in Dagestan in the vicinity named Karaman (Black Boulders) near Makhachkala, which makes a part of the Kumtorkalin District of Dagestan. The Karaman land is claimed by villagers of the Kumtorkalin District and residents of the Kumyk villages of Tarki, Kyakhulay and Alburikent. The latter assert, referring to historical documents, that these lands belong to them.
In August 2013, Karaman saw mass riots caused by the land issue with the participation, according to the MIA, of about 700 people.
