Aslan Abashidze: 'The tragedy of Abkhazia and South Osetia can repeat itself in Georgia'

The tragedy of Abkhazia and South Osetia can repeat itself in Georgia, Adjarian leader Aslan Abashidze said to Adjaria TV company. "The measures that the center is taking against Adjaria are similar to those it took in its time against Abkhazia and South Osetia. Everybody knows what it ended with," he said.

President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili "has exceeded all the limits, he unfoundedly pronounces sentences on people thought being the head of state, he must not threaten the people but be a guarantor of their safety," Aslan Abashidze added. The matter concerns in particular commander of the Georgian Defense Ministry's 25th motorized rifle battalion Roman Dumbadze. To remind, the Supreme Court of Georgia has declared him internationally wanted today. Mikhail Saakashvili has accused him of committing high treason and many other crimes.

Aslan Abashidze also blamed the center and the Georgian president in particular for the non-fulfillment of undertaken obligations. The mater concerns the recent agreement between Aslan Abashidze and Mikhail Saakashvili under which Tbilisi undertook not to make appointments in the military field without submitting them to Batumi's approval.
