SC of the KBR quashed deportation of Syrian student

The Supreme Court (SC) of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has partially upheld the complaint lodged by Otkhman Ayal, an ethnic Circassian and now a Syrian national, and reversed the decision to deport him, said a source from the local department of the Federal Migration Service (FMS).

Let us remind you that on February 10 the Nalchik City Court decided to deport students from Syria Yaser Stas, Nart Abaza and Otkhman Ayal, after they were detained close to the venue of the anti-Olympic action on February 7.

It follows from the materials of the case that Otkhman Ayal came to Russia in 2011 under the invitation of the public organization "Paryt" under a business visa. Later, he was granted a temporary residence permit; but he also needed to get registered. He could not do it, because his passport had expired; and Ayal was just in the stage of its renewal.

Earlier, the FMS said that the decision of the city court was reasoned and legitimate, because "the foreign citizen was illegally living in the republic."

However, the SC of the KBR upheld the decision of the Nalchik City Court on imposition of an administrative fine in the amount of 2500 roubles on Otkhman Ayal.
