Three Ingush residents are suspected of fighting for Syrian militants
Three residents of the Sunzha district of Ingushetia joined the militants in Syria and are now fighting in the country, the Prosecutor's Office of Ingushetia reports.
According to investigators, the suspects went to Syria in 2013 and joined the ranks of the anti-government formation "Jeish-al-Muhajirin val-Ansar", which is stationed in the vicinity of the city of Aleppo.
According to the Office, the suspects act as ordinary fighters of the formation; they are equipped with firearms; and they made no attempt to surrender their weapons and quit the formation of Syrian militants. The Ingush FSB department has opened cases against them for participation in an illegal armed formation (Part 2, Article 208 of the Russian Criminal Code).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in September 2013 it became known that militants from Northern Caucasus had formed a unit "Al-Muhajirin" in the city of Aleppo, in Northern Syria. Chechen residents also reported militants' wives also went to the Middle East.
