Ingush Court fines blogger Musa Abadiev by 100,000 roubles

On March 19, the Nazran City Court chaired by Khamid Tambiev completed the consideration of the case against Musa Abadiev, an Ingush blogger, accused of inciting enmity and hatred. The Court has pronounced the decision to fine blogger Musa Abadiev by 100,000 roubles.

The criminal case has been instituted against the blogger because of the article about his friend Sultan-Girey Khashagulgov.

In his conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, Musa Abadiev said he had filed a motion to the Court to consider the case in a special manner. "I never denied I was the author of the article, I admit my guilt, and thus I relieve the court of excessive delays. When I was writing that article, I had no intent to excite hatred and enmity towards anyone. However, since the experts have concluded that my statements contain constituent elements of offence under Part 1 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, then, yes, I am guilty," Musa Abadiev has stated.

Musa Abadiev has noted that while pronouncing the verdict, the Judge did not mention where the money 100,000 roubles will be directed. "I would like to think that the money will go for acts of kindness: for sick children, people with disabilities or large families that lost their breadwinners," Musa Abadiev has said.
