Two detained opposition members go on hunger strike in Rostov-on-Don
Today, Vladislav Ryazantsev, the coordinator of the "Left-Wing Front" for the Rostov Region, has been arrested for 15 days in Rostov-on-Don. The opposition member announced a hunger strike.
The decision to arrest Vladislav Ryazantsev was passed today by the Sovietskiy District Court of Rostov-on-Don.
"A judge of the Sovietskiy Court of Rostov-on-Don has arrested Ryazantsev under Article 20.1, that is, for disorderly conduct (petty hooliganism). At the trial, thanks to the witnesses, who got confused all the time with their testimonies, it was established that Vladislav allegedly used bad words while walking down the street," Yuri Mironenko, who acted as a public defender in Ryazantsev's case, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to Yuri Mironenko, the detentions of oppositionists had to do with the Olympic Torch Relay in Rostov-on-Don.
Vladislav Ryazantsev himself also associates his arrest with the Olympic Torch Relay. "Our movement had planned to hold an action under the slogan of boycott of Sochi Olympics," Vladislav Ryazantsev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, adding that he did not know whether the action would take place.
According to his story, he declared to go on a hunger strike. Pavel Nagibin, an activist of "The Other Russia", who was arrested earlier, has also announced a hunger strike, said Yuri Mironenko.
